Our collaborative paper with Prof. Byron Farnum’s group has been published in ChemElectroChem. Congratulations to recent Auburn chemistry graduate Dr. Amanda Chown on the lead author paper! In this work, delafossite CuCrO2 was synthesized by hydrothermal growth and characterized by Rajendra Paudel using our XPS capablities to examine the Cr and Cu valence states before and after cyclic voltammetry measurements in a LiClO4– solution. Our results show that the large interstitial sites in these materials can support Li intercalation, making them promising candidates for energy storage systems. The work was chosen as a cover feature article in the journal and was supported by our collaborative NSF Solid State and Materials Chemistry grant.
